an alternative plan for 2025
Every little thing WE do has the power to change the course of the ‘project’ that is 2025, redirecting it to a place of fairness, inclusion, respect, joy. Showing love for all people, for our ways of living, and for this beautiful earth that holds us all in safety and provides us with the environment that makes it possible to hope, dream and give life to our creative ideas.

But will they remember who you are?
Consumerism shapes us.
It's the tension in the minds and hearts of anyone adopting a regenerative, people and planet-centred way forward for communities and business, who also works with – and values – brands. The history of us as consumers IS the history of us as people, as communities, as cliques. The Coca-Cola vs Pepsi. The biscuit dunked in your tea. The teabag brewing in the pot… They’re all tiny signals of who we are and, on some level, shortcuts to connection with others.
So while part of me is a bona fide eco worrier, another part can’t conceive of a life without brands to love. Brands to remember, when other things I hold precious are fuzzy in my brain.

Failure is relative… and often comes with unexpected benefits
We’re at the start of a new month. Heading into a new season.
Some of us might be thinking of setting ourselves goals to take us through to the end of the year. Or taking stock of where we are in relation to the goals we set at the start of the year. If you plan to do either, give yourself a minute to think about success and how you measure it.
What’s the context you use to shape the way you see (and judge) your actions?
How does that impact how you define your successes and failures?
And what value do you put on each of them?

what’s your measure of success?
I’m a praise junkie.
I know it. And I don’t like it about myself. It makes me hesitant and slow to act, as I second guess myself and the work I want to create and put out into the world. Because needing praise skews how you measure success, as you start to equate popularity with worth.

Designing a more inclusive fashion industry with H&M Foundation
It was the end of KNIT, a 5-day DE&I pilot project initiated and funded by H&M Foundation. The vision for KNIT was to bring together people with diverse lived experiences to participate in co-creating solutions that will make the fashion industry more equitable.

it makes me smile: Toni Morrison documentary The Pieces I Am
The 2019 documentary, directed by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, is two hours of Morrison’s brilliance on film…

the other, other 4-letter word… hope
Hope is a beautiful sentiment that comes into its true power when we move from ideas to action... and it doesn't rely on big, showy action. Small, persistent, committed acts add up to a world of difference.

Autumn moodboard
While New Year is the traditional time for making resolutions and taking steps towards a better you, autumn can also be a great time to evaluate goals, reset and resolve to learn new skills.
hot housing collaboration at WHU Düsseldorf
I got to join the roster of experts and give a talk on building creativity in teams. The talk was designed to motivate and share some ideas to help these relative strangers connect with each other, generate ideas quickly, give each other feedback, and manage energy levels during what was likely to be an intense week.

chatter bot
Last Tuesday, I was chatting to a colleague about ChatGPT. A true early adopter, they fizzed with admiration for the amazing things the souped-up AI Bot can do (write a poem in nanoseconds, churn out a paper on Othello’s Desdemona). As I listened, I felt my head get hot.

lights, camera, action!!!
I get to do a rewarding mix of EDI (equity, diversity & inclusion) work at Creative Grace.
Late last year I got to co-produce a film project led by award-winning content agency Sunday Their brief was to make a series of films to launch ‘Welcome Inclusion’, a progressive new ED&I initiative for ICAEW the national body of chartered accountants.
🎤 The project was a chance to use old skills in new ways (I got to interview to camera using a mirror box).
